Instructor terms
Effective 23 Oct 2026 · If the Arabic and English texts differ, the Arabic text governs.
These terms apply when you teach at an academy on Mudarraj: creating courses, uploading videos and files, and answering students' questions. They are an agreement between you and the academy you teach at, with a limited licence to Devya so it can run the service. The terms of use and the acceptable use policy apply alongside them.
1. The parties and your own agreement with the academy
- These terms are between you and the academy. Devya is not a party to them, except for the licence in section 4.
- You apply to teach through the instructor application, and the academy decides whether to accept it.
- If you sign a separate written agreement with the academy, it prevails on the points it covers, and these terms apply to everything it doesn't cover.
2. Who owns the content
- You keep the copyright in everything you create: videos, slides, summaries, quizzes and questions — unless you sign a written agreement with the academy that transfers ownership to it or gives it exclusive rights.
- What the academy provides, such as its logo, templates and shared question banks, stays the academy's.
- If you create content together with another instructor or the academy, agree in writing who owns it.
3. Your licence to the academy
- You give the academy a non-exclusive licence (unless you both agree otherwise in writing) to host, publish, sell and teach with your content on its Mudarraj site and apps, for as long as you teach there.
- The licence includes promoting the course: showing its title, description, short excerpts and free lessons, and your name, photo and professional bio.
- When you stop teaching there, the academy stops selling your courses to new students, unless you agree otherwise in writing. Students who are already enrolled keep access until the end of the access period shown on the course page. If the access period is open-ended, they keep access for as long as the course stays available to them on the academy.
4. Your licence to Devya
- You give Devya a free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, convert, stream, watermark and back up your content, and to show it only to the people the academy allows.
- The licence has one purpose: running the service for the academy. Devya doesn't use your content for anything else.
- The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for backups, which roll off automatically within 35 days, and anything we must keep for a legal reason, such as evidence in a copyright dispute.
5. Originality
You confirm that:
- the content is your own work, or you have the right or a licence to use it this way;
- it doesn't include pages from books, university slides, other instructors' recordings, protected exam papers, music or images without the rights holder's permission or a licence that allows it;
- it doesn't reveal personal data about students or anyone else without their permission;
- you take reasonable care over its academic accuracy.
As far as the law allows, you are responsible for any claim that arises from a breach of these promises.
6. Your revenue share
- Your share of sales of your courses is the percentage the academy sets in its settings, or the percentage agreed for each course, and it is shown in your dashboard.
- When a student uses your own promo code on your course, you get the share the academy sets for that case, also shown in your dashboard.
- The share is calculated on what the student actually paid after discounts, as shown in your dashboard. If a student is refunded, your share of that sale is reversed.
- Any change to your share applies only to later sales, after you have been told about it.
7. Payouts and taxes
- The academy pays your share on its own schedule, to the payout account you add (a bank account or wallet). Devya doesn't pay you directly.
- Keep your payout details correct. We store the sensitive parts encrypted.
- Taxes on your income are your responsibility, except where the law requires the academy to withhold them; in that case it deducts them and gives you proof.
8. Course review and publishing
- The academy may require courses to be reviewed before they are published, which is the default setting. You submit the course for review, and the academy approves it, asks for changes, or rejects it with a reason.
- Changes to a published course may need a new review.
- The academy may unpublish any content that breaks these terms or receives a copyright complaint.
9. Copyright notices
If we receive a notice about your content, we follow the copyright policy. Cooperate with us and the academy, provide evidence of your rights if you have it, and you can send a counter-notice within 14 days. An account that receives 3 valid notices within 12 months is terminated.
10. Working with students
- Treat students with respect, answer their questions within a reasonable time, and mark fairly.
- Don't ask students for payments outside the academy for its courses.
- What you see about students — names, progress, questions — is the academy's data. Use it only to teach; don't copy it, and don't contact students outside the academy for marketing.
- The acceptable use policy applies to you in full.
11. When you stop teaching
- You or the academy can end your teaching with 30 days' written notice. The academy may end it immediately for a serious breach of these terms.
- After it ends:
- the academy stops selling your courses to new students, and enrolled students keep access as described in section 3;
- you receive your share of sales made before the end, less any refunds;
- your Mudarraj account stays open, and you can ask the academy for a copy of your content;
- we handle your data as described in the privacy policy.
12. General
- These terms may change. For any material change we tell you in your dashboard or by email before it takes effect, and we update the effective date at the top of the page.
- These terms are governed by Egyptian law, and the courts of Cairo have jurisdiction over any dispute, including the Economic Courts where competent.
- If this English text differs from the Arabic, the Arabic text governs.
- For questions about your share or your courses, contact the academy through its contact page; for legal matters, write to legal@mudarraj.dev.
